Notes of Nostalgia

Music creating memories

We’re so glad you’re here. At Notes of Nostalgia, we use the power of music to bring comfort, joy, and connection to those living with dementia. Explore how a simple song can spark a memory.

At Notes of Nostalgia, our mission is to spark moments of joy, connection, and memory for individuals living with dementia through the power of music. We believe that even when words and memories fade, music has the unique ability to reach the heart. By bringing familiar songs into nursing homes and care facilities, we aim to create meaningful experiences that uplift and comfort those affected by memory loss.

Our Mission

About us

Our Story

Notes of Nostalgia was born from a deeply personal experience. My grandmother, who has dementia, often forgets names, faces—even me out of context. But every so often, when music begins to play from our Alexa, something incredible happens: she sings along. Despite everything she’s lost to dementia, songs still reach her. That connection, that spark, inspired me to create this organization. Through music—whether it’s a familiar holiday tune or simply “Happy Birthday”—I hope to bring moments of joy and recognition to others living with dementia, especially those in nursing homes. Music has a way of reaching where words no longer can, and I want to share that gift with as many people as possible.

At Notes of Nostalgia, we bring together volunteer singers from middle school and early high school to share the joy of music with individuals living with dementia. These young voices help spark smiles, memories, and moments of connection through simple songs—from classics to holiday favorites—reminding us all of music’s incredible power to heal and unite across generations.
